Honeycrisp apple is a medium to large, round apple with mottled red and yellow skin and creamy white flesh. It delivers a snappy crunch and ample juice with balanced sweetness and mild tartness, holding its shape when baked and staying bright in raw preparations; commonly sold as whole fruit.
Developed by the University of Minnesota and released in the 1990s, Honeycrisp was bred for cold-hardy production. It spread across the United States and Canada and is harvested from late summer into fall in most North American orchards.
