Coffee beans are the roasted seeds of the coffee cherry, glossy brown and aromatic. They deliver roasty bitterness with chocolatey or nutty notes; use whole for gentle infusions, crushed for spice rubs, or ground for brewing and baking. Sold as whole bean or pre-ground across light to dark roasts.
Coffee originated in Ethiopia, spread via Yemen and the Arabian Peninsula, and later took root across tropical Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Producers harvest cherries, depulp and ferment or dry the seeds, then export green beans for roasting worldwide.
