Mixed Berry Smoothie
Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen mixed berries
- 1 banana – ripe, sliced
- 3/4 cups plain yogurt
- 3/4 cups milk – cold
- 1 1/2 tbsp honey
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cups ice cubes

Instructions
1. Peel the banana and slice it into pieces so it blends more easily.
2. Add the frozen mixed berries to the blender, followed by the sliced banana.
3. Pour in the plain yogurt and the cold milk.
4. Add the honey and vanilla extract to the blender.
5. Top with the ice cubes to help thicken and chill the smoothie.
6. Blend on low speed to start breaking up the frozen berries and ice, then increase to high speed and blend until very smooth and creamy, 45–60 seconds.
7. Stop and scrape down the sides of the blender with a spatula if any fruit sticks, then blend again briefly until fully incorporated.
8. Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness with a little more honey if desired, blending briefly to combine.
9. Pour the mixed berry smoothie into two glasses and serve immediately while cold and thick.
Mixed Berry Smoothie is a cold, creamy blended drink that brings together the sweet-tart flavors of assorted berries with the mellow richness of banana and dairy. The frozen fruit gives it a naturally thick, milkshake-like texture without needing ice cream, while yogurt and milk add body and a slight tang. Lightly sweetened with honey and scented with a touch of vanilla, it is refreshing, fruity, and satisfying enough for breakfast or a snack.
Mixed fruit smoothies rose to popularity in the late 20th century alongside juice bars and health food cafés in North America and Europe. Blended fruit drinks have deep roots in many cultures, but the modern berry-and-yogurt smoothie grew from the intersection of home blenders, frozen fruit availability, and a growing interest in nutrition-focused meals. Over time, the mixed berry version became a staple because berries freeze well, keep their bright color and flavor, and blend seamlessly into a versatile, crowd-pleasing drink.
