Tequila is a clear to pale-gold distilled spirit made from blue Weber agave. It delivers a peppery snap with citrus and herbal notes in blanco styles, while reposado and añejo show vanilla and oak; common uses include shaken sours, highballs, flambe, marinades, and fruit infusions; typically sold as blanco, reposado, añejo, or extra añejo.
Produced in designated regions of Mexico, primarily Jalisco, it evolved from mezcal-making traditions; producers cook agave piñas, ferment the expressed juice, and distill, with aged expressions resting in oak, and it spread globally through 20th-century exports.
