Ginger Beer

Ginger beer is a carbonated soft drink flavored with ginger, typically pale to golden and effervescent. It delivers a fiery ginger bite and a sweet finish, and its bubbles lift aromatic ginger oils; common as a mixer in cocktails like the moscow mule and dark and stormy, and also used to braise or glaze; sold in bottles and cans, regular or diet.

It originated in 18th-century England as a fermented drink and spread through the Caribbean and North America. Modern commercial versions are usually nonalcoholic, produced by carbonating water with ginger extract, sugar, and acids.
