Coffee

Coffee is a dark brown brewed beverage made from roasted coffee beans. Steam curls with a bittersweet, roasty aroma; flavor ranges from bright and clean to deep and chocolatey depending on roast and method. In cooking it flavors desserts, enriches sauces and braises, and appears hot or cold in drinks, commonly brewed by drip, pour-over, French press, or espresso.

Coffee originated in Ethiopia and was cultivated in Yemen before spreading through the Middle East to Europe and the Americas. Today Arabica and Robusta dominate production, and processing methods (washed or natural) plus roasting shape the profiles used in kitchens and cafes.
