Tropical Fruit Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 ripe banana – peeled and sliced
- 1 cups frozen mango chunks
- 1 cups frozen pineapple chunks
- 3/4 cups orange juice – chilled
- 1/2 cups plain yogurt
- 1/2 cups coconut milk – well shaken
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1/2 cups ice cubes
- unsweetened shredded coconut – for serving (optional)

Instructions
1. Peel and slice the banana.
2. Add the banana, frozen mango chunks, frozen pineapple chunks, orange juice, plain yogurt, and coconut milk to a blender.
3. Add the honey and ice cubes to the blender.
4. Blend on low speed to start breaking up the frozen fruit, then increase to high speed and blend until completely smooth and creamy, 45–90 seconds, scraping down the sides if needed.
5. Taste and adjust sweetness by blending in a little more honey if desired, or adjust thickness by adding a splash more orange juice or a few more ice cubes and blending again until smooth.
6. Pour the tropical fruit smoothie into 2 glasses.
7. Sprinkle the tops with unsweetened shredded coconut for serving, if using, and serve immediately while cold and frosty.
Tropical Fruit Smoothie is a bright, refreshing blended drink that captures the flavors of sun-ripened fruit in a creamy, frosty glass. The combination of pineapple, mango, and banana brings natural sweetness, gentle tang, and a lush texture without needing much added sugar. Coconut notes and citrusy juice round out the drink, making it feel both indulgent and light at the same time.
Tropical-style smoothies emerged as fruit and juice bars grew popular in the late 20th century, drawing inspiration from Caribbean, Latin American, and Pacific island fruit blends. As global trade made tropical fruits more accessible, home cooks began blending frozen fruit, juice, and yogurt or milk into everyday snacks and breakfasts. Today, tropical smoothies are a staple in smoothie shops worldwide, celebrated as a versatile base for both nutritious add-ins and vacation-like treats.
