Berry Protein Smoothie
Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen mixed berries
- 1 banana – ripe, sliced
- 3/4 cups plain Greek yogurt
- 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
- 1 cups milk – dairy or unsweetened plant-based
- 1 tbsp honey – or maple syrup, to taste
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 4 ice cubes

Instructions
1. Add the frozen mixed berries and sliced banana to a blender jar.
2. Spoon in the plain Greek yogurt and add the vanilla protein powder on top of the fruit.
3. Pour in the milk, then add the honey and chia seeds.
4. Add the ice cubes to the blender.
5. Blend on low speed to start breaking up the frozen fruit, then increase to high and blend until completely smooth and creamy, 45–60 seconds, stopping to scrape down the sides if needed.
6. Check the consistency; if too thick, blend in a little more milk, 1–2 tbsp at a time. If too thin, add a few more frozen berries and blend again.
7. Taste and adjust sweetness with a bit more honey if desired, then blend briefly to combine.
8. Pour the berry protein smoothie into two glasses and serve immediately while cold and thick.
A berry protein smoothie is a thick, creamy blended drink that combines the bright, tangy sweetness of mixed berries with the richness of yogurt and the staying power of protein powder. The frozen fruit creates a naturally frosty texture, while banana adds body and mellow sweetness without overwhelming the berry flavor. Chia seeds and dairy or plant-based milk round everything out into a satisfying, drinkable meal or snack.
Berry-based smoothies became popular in North America in the late 20th century as blended fruit shops and health-food cafés spread, borrowing techniques from Brazilian açaí bowls and West Coast juice bars. As fitness culture and interest in higher-protein diets grew, protein powders and Greek yogurt were folded into these fruit blends to create more balanced, filling drinks. The berry protein smoothie is now a standard offering in smoothie bars and home kitchens alike, known for pairing classic berry flavor with convenient, portable nutrition.
