Apples with lime is a bright, refreshing street-style fruit snack that balances crisp sweetness with tangy citrus and a gentle kick of heat. The lime juice wakes up the natural flavor of the apples while keeping their texture snappy, and a light dusting of chile and salt brings contrast and depth. It’s quick to assemble, endlessly snackable, and as at home in a lunchbox as it is on a party platter.

Rooted in Mexico’s beloved tradition of fruta con chile y limón, this preparation reflects how vendors and home cooks dress seasonal fruit with fresh lime, ground chile, and a pinch of salt. While jícama, mango, and pineapple are classics, apples are a common addition that takes especially well to the tart-lime and chile pairing. The combination has spread widely through markets and home kitchens across Mexico and beyond, celebrated for its simple technique and vibrant flavor profile.
